A Pay What You Can Farmers Market and Block Party
The Good Garden is bringing together community members in urban Ottawa to learn more about the positive impacts of regenerative gardening, how they can be part of the growing food sovereignty movement, and meet local farmers who are already doing this work. All while getting their hands on some incredible local produce at low- or no-cost through the Pay-What-You-Can Community Table, and generous like-minded vendors.
How does pay what you can work?
At the heart of our market is a special pay-what-you-can community table. Local farmers generously donate fresh produce to this shared space, creating a supermarket-style experience.
A minimum of $5 for 5 tokens
Browse and select items every half hour as the table is restocked.
Return for more tokens as time and products are available
Vendors are participating too! Many farmers and makers also offer their own pay-what-you-can options at their individual stalls. Pricing stays in the hands of each grower, giving you more choices while supporting diverse voices in our local food system.
Join Us for Family Meal
Offered by Painted Roots Farm, this plant forward meal is made by people with good hearts to share with the best of friends. Designed for neighbours, with ingredients sourced from many of the farmers who contribute produce to the Pay What You Can Community Table.

Parking available in the neighbourhood and across the street at the Vanier Community Centre
This is an outdoor market in an urban space.
One chemical toilet is available in the Vanier Hub.
Bring reusable containers and bags!
This event is focused on producing limited waste. We are excited to compost and recycle what we can.
